Just yesterday, I sent two friends to Doby Gaut MRT station in my car as it was on the way. We talked along the way, and one of them started to talk about her ex-boyfriend. As she related her story, her eyes started to get wet, and soon after, she couldn't control herself.
After dropping them off, I started to remember the times that I, too, couldn't control myself.
I cried while watching Windstruck, every time. Tears just started to roll down automatically. Now I think I'll have to keep away from it for a while, since the story is so similar to a real life incident that happened to someone I know.
I wanted to cry over the song "My Immortal" by Evanescence. It just felt so sad.
I cried the most in Junior College. All thanks to basketball. I cried after the last game with the J2s, when Miss Rivera said "Okay, Deanna, now you cannot disturb the seniors. They have to study for their A levels," during the last debrief with them.
Then, when I became captain for the SRJC basketball girls, Miss Rivera looked at me one day, and said "Deanna, I'm disappointed in you." It didn't take long for the tears to flow, and I guess, her brutal honesty was her way of making me grow up.
I cried a lot when I was younger. I remember losing fights to my sister, because she always resorted to dirty tricks. She would pull my hair! I was afraid to pull hers because I saw a movie which a woman pulled another's so hard the scalp yanked out. Till now, I think I wouldn't dare to pull anyone's hair too hard. So when I lost, I had to gain some sympathy, if not my mother would whack me hard.
But er, come to think of it, it'll wasn't of any use. I still got whacked quite a bit.
The only other time I tried sympathy-crying was in J2. The student councillors wouldn't let the OG I was leading have the same timetable with the rest of the Family. So my OG had to do activities with other Families, and it was boring. Finally, I told the student councillor in charge of my family, and halfway through, my voice started breaking. I began to tremble a little, and the councillor decided to let my OG join in with the Family. Afer he left, I broke into a smile immediately, leaving Charlene in shock as she thought I was really about to cry.
But but but, I haven't used this tactic ever since. It was a desperate measure.
I didn't cry at my grandpa's funeral. In fact, I had quite a bit of fun running around with my cousins. That could be because I was in K1 then, plus I never spent much time with my grandfather.
Actually, I think I cried a whole lot more times that I remember. Probably over a sob story, a good movie, silly little things like jealousy, and other minor stuff. But I gotta admit, it's a real theraputic experience.
And before I end this post, here's something worth crying for.

I'm the august unpatriot.
Who wants to go watch Avril Lavigne's "The Best Damn Tour" on 7th September with me? I missed out on 2 of her previous concerts in Singapore because of O, then A levels. But finally, I am financially/physically able to watch her, even though I suspect my maturity level has surpass the age group of her appeal.
At least let me hear her sing "Fall to Pieces", and I'll promptly forget about the whole suing/copyright/attitudeproblem issues.
There might be a chance she'll cancel her concert at the very last minute though, like what she did in USA.
Anyway, I went for dinner with my collegues today. 5 Chinamen, 2 Malaysians and my supervisor, who's the only other Singaporean.
A whole lotta Chinese was spoken today. One Chinaman had a super nice accent, and he said he came from inner Mongolia. Cue images of horses, large tents, tribespeople in bright, heavy costumes standing on plains. I told him the images I had, and he said only the wandering ones do that, and most of inner Mongolia is actually quite advanced.
I told him he can find a job as a Mandarin newscaster in Singapore.
Hurhur. I'm really writing random rubbish now huh. ButI like to type on my laptop's keys. It's theraputic.
The Z monster is here now.

"Supplies, Cathy Chia!" and the SRJC Alumni.
After a saturday where the WKWSCI people celebrated Cathy Chia's birthday at an expensive restaurant and I regretfully puked out that expensive dinner (don't ask) at Sentosa in a seperate incident, the Taiwan Trip girls decided to surprise her by popping up one by one.
Joyce dated Cathy out on the pretext that it will only be the two of them.
Colleen sat in the restaurant, and waited.
Joyce then brought Cathy to the restaurant, but before she could open her mouth, the waitress asked Cathy table for how many and alfresco or indoor.
Without any hesitation, Cathy went, "Table for 2. Alfresco," leaving Joyce's jaw hanging in mid air and Colleen hanging.
Alamak. Classic Cathy.
They told her I wouldn't be joining because I've already celebrated her birthday and I had training that day too.
At night, 8plus, I popped out and sat next to Cathy in my training jersey, and she screamed for the longest time until she saw my mole and realised who the hell I was.
We gave her the hazelnut birthday cake, the scrapbook of all her unglam photos (please ask her to show you the 2nd page) and let her play with sparkles.
Happy birthday Cathy Chia!
Colleen's floor. Horrible mess made trying to make the scrapbook, but it was super enjoyable.
Yay! Taiwan trip people.
Okay, so Cathy will be going to Vietnam with the Vietnam people. Felicia! It's your turn to take care of Cathy! Make sure she don't go down the wrong escalator, or into the wrong lift, or walk in the wrong direction okay? If need be, please keep calling her name a few thousand times.
And I'm too lazy to create another post for SRJC Alumni 2008. My batch merged with Yuen's batch, and we won 2 games and lost 3.
But it was loads of fun, especially when Renee tried to score in OUR OWN BASKET. (That wasn't the worst. Xiao Ji stole that same rebound and wanted to score in her own basket straightaway. Haha.)
Carmen Ortega, Yuen and Renee. All same ol' same ol.
Rain came and everyone whipped out their brollies.
The court where I played, suffered, laughed and cried in for 2 years.
I love SRJC basketball:)

the old man is taking very long.
My face has been burnt, as usual, after the yearly alumni. I missed all of last year's fun because I was in Korea, but dunnowhy my teammates decided to do the same and go overseas this year too, leaving only 4 people in my 2005 team to fend for ourselves.
Oh well, it was fun anyway. Carmen, yenling and weishan (okay, and gao fei who is technically not part of 2005 batch cos she went to retain herself in yr 1) are still the same ol' same ol'. I think I have forgotten the jc days because it has been so long, but looking at them just bring back old memories.
Will put pictures of the yearly alumni, taken with my 2.0 megapixel handphone camera. You know what they say,"No fish, prawn also good."
I think after working in my dad's for so long, my english is begining to get poorer/lazier. Sometimes I just give up on speaking good english and revert to good ol' Singaporean engrish. Huh? Okay lor. Er, hold on ah. She not there leh. You want to leave a message? Okay lor.
Goodness gracious me. My phone etiquette is going down the drain. And my biggest critic is my mother, who would so fiercely go "You don't say Okay. Okay is not proper english. Just say Please hold on."
Okaay.
And my sister has so creatively come up with something to irk my mum. If she ever call up the office, I should go Please hold on, and instead of pressing the Hold button, just sing into the receiver... tum tum tum tum tum... then, after some time, speak into the receiver and go "If you want to continue listening press 1. If you want to change another tune, press 2. If you don't want to hear anymore, hang up."
I haven't tried it yet though, but I should huh?
Very bored in office. Shall think of other ways to irk mum.

In another perspective.
It's only going to be two more weeks before the start of school and the end of my job stint at my dad's.
Twoooo more!
Cathy's EIGHT-TEENTH birthday (or so she says).

The Chronicles of Nana.
(hahahaha...)
Because my laptop of only one year plus has been failing on me, I decided to take out all my important stuff and plonk everything into my hard disk.
What astonished me was the sheer number of photographs I had. If this were ten years ago, I'd have been buried in a sea of photo albums already.
It took me a while to look through them, but it was really fun to see how much time has passed.
So let's walk down memory lane...
For Publication Design, Fizzah and I had so many crazy sessions of Maclab! This picture was taken while waiting for the sun to set at Kent Ridge park. That girl ah, whenever we're doing pub design on the computers, she cannot hear anything that I said.
Everytime after I said a chunk of words, she would just say, "Actually Dee, I dunno what you are saying leh."
Nevertheless, it was a fun partnership. And I still owe her a Karmasutra for her birthday....
Who could forget Korea? This was taken after we went to watch Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, where Victor and Louise fell fast asleep halfway, and subsequently cursed and swear at their waste of money.
And this one is our "School Camp" trip!
And Felicia can now say she went overseas with us already.
Two semesters back, wayy before Korea, was the CS picnic. Funny how so many things changed in just 1 year.
Like how I never knew Cathy Chia can be so act cute (hahaa...), and that one of Estelle's frequent hangout is the toilet, (That girl has very smooth bowels) and the works.
This was my Primary School gathering. From tiny tots, we have grown to become men and women, which is quite scary.
The guy on the extreme left used to fight with me. He would kick me, and I would take the broom and shove it at him when we had to do classroom duty during recess. Now, he's a real nice guy with his own girlfriend to take care of.
See how people change?
But I'm still quite violent though. Hmmm...
This was the back view of a very big-size (relatively speaking) French girl who everyone on the court was so frightened of. When she did her lay-ups, people were just so afraid of getting bulldozed by her.
I didn't know her very well, but she left a pretty deep impression on the NTU team.
Aw, Andrea, me, and my P-Plate!
I scored 10 points for my pratical, which wasn't very good considering Sivalingam scored 6points. We were competing in everything back then- maths, chemistry, General Paper, sports, and the size of our pencil cases. Which she won with her huge, Pink Roxy pencil case.
But I passed, which was the most important part, and promptly banged the black Toyota I.S.T into the wall of a carpark a few months later. Which was why there is now a red Toyota Rush.
The Rush has gone to many places of Singapore, including a particularly scary ride through old Choa Chu Kang road. I think Apple and I studied until we were both crazy then. Then there are the usual stops, Far East Square, Outram, Ang Mo Kio/ Hall 13, Tampines, Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Panjang, Hougang, Braddell Heights-- okay, it really has gone to a lot of places.
Driving others home is quite fun sometimes. And it's good Car-ma!
And there's Princess Leanne (the name on my phonebook in my phone), wearing her barely there pseudo specs.
She's crazy sometimes, and looks so-darn-fierce to strangers, but believe me, her bark is worse than her bite.
But she looks out for her friends, and takes real good care of you, especially when eating at Fengshan 85. :D Now that she drives, she gets real real excited when hearing the sounds of a Lamborgini pass by, which I find slightly disturbing.
She's gonna kill me already la.
:D
I dug this relic up from my previous entries in 2004. This is of SRJC basketball team 2004 going for a 3D/2N trip to Malaysia.
And ohwhatfunwehad! The most significant event I remembered though, was Gwen's smelly jersey. Jocelyn's fly swatting antics on court was 2nd.
In Junior College, whenever you see her, I'd probably be nearby-- even when she was having netball training cos the basketball court's not that far away.
Now though, I'm not that near anymore, but it's still good.
And And And!! My secondary school mates!
I couldn't find any decent photos of us all together, probably because we don't really take much pictures when we go out, or the most recent ones have no Stephanie in it.
I'll find one and put it up, cos you guys are really my best oldest friends who put up with my failing memory!
:D
See, the walk down memory lane is really long... or I'm really just very naggy.

Among all my friends, there was only one who dared to dream, and went along with his dream to make it big.
His dream wasn’t the ordinary “I want to be a doctor/lawyer” dream.
He wanted to be a musician.
In order to do so, he converted his room into a home studio. It was fully sound proof, equipped with the latest state-of-the-art music equipment and gizmos. He has 3, if I remembered correctly, guitars in his room and a piano.
He got accepted into some engineering course in NTU.
He decided, to hell with the tie and shirt, let me just rock out everyday and I’ll be happy, so he did not go ahead with it.
He wakes up to practice on his musical instruments everyday. It takes him about 2 hours to warm up. He teaches tuition and then plays gigs at night with his band to sustain himself.
Now, he is on television. He plays bass for the band “Ink” in Channel U’s Superband.
But the road inside the googlebox is tough. After the first round, he is feeling the heat.
It is amazing to see how people struggle against the tide just to make it. Playing music is no longer his hobby. It's his career.
Support Leow Zi Xiang. Support Ink in Superband 2008.
