Some things change, and some don't, but I know myself the best. It's the same damn thing.

Top Ten Cheap Thrills of the Week

1) Showing off marks for cover of magazine in Publication Design assignment- we got 9 out of 10 marks. (Nevermind if we got only 67 out of 100 for the total assignment.)

2) Sms-ing actresses at 1am to tell them that James, ISP tutor, asked if they felt uncomfortable kissing each other. Har har.

3) Hoping to spoil market in any subject. (but I'm afraid it's not gonna happen)

4) Having naan for dinner.

5) Joustling with Hoon Kiat for "Best Extra". Quality, Hoon Kiat, not quantity.

6) Singing the tune "Courage is the way we face up to everything" spontanously and infecting everyone with the song. Ros was the first to get hit.

7) Cursing KC Yeoh for the postcard (pain in the) ass and Chris Yaw for giving us only 67 marks. But Chris Yaw is still a very good teacher lah.

8) Becoming more and more anal. It's good to be anal in Graphic Comm, ISP, and Pub Design. Maybe slightly anal in Genre and Narrative Strategies. Also helps in Korean too.

9) Speaking of korean, plonking a self-invented word into the Korean listening test paper.

10) Blogging at 2.47am, when I should be sleeping.

Gerberra

A gerberra is a flower whose name is so hard to remember. Ginvera? Gardenia? Girl-berra? These are some of the names I threw up while trying to recall the actual name of the flower. I'd thought that Gardenia was a good guess, but then again, it IS a household brand of bread, so... no go.

Speaking of which, I bought the flowers for the 4 friends at Perspectives Film Festival because they were so busy for the event they turned into mini-kan cheong spiders. ( and in order not to let them get jealous of Joyce's bouquet... haha!)

Justin, Colleen and I went down for a final show of support on Friday night, where the last movie of the festival, "Seniman Bujang Lapok" was screened at the grass patch of the National Musuem of Singapore. There were supposed to be old folks who would come and watch the show as well, since it was an old Malay flick. Halfway through the show though, the three of us turned back and the old folks were gone!

We dubbed it "The mystery of the old folks". It was a really weird thing! One moment, you see these frail little creatures sit down and enjoying the show, and the next time you turn around, the place where they sat had suddenly been filled by young, chattering adults. Did they disappear into thin air or something?

We got the explanation as to why they disappeared after the show. An old folk had gotten ill and so all of them had to go back. The funny thing was, we were so absorbed in the show that we didn't even know that the old folks were gone!

There was a scene in the movie that was the ultimate. The 3 main characters, who are ever so random, went to help fix a motorbike which was making loud noises in the middle of the night. After they had finished working on it, the owner restarted the engine. In the blink of an eye, and I swear it was the most ridiculous thing, the motorbike DISAPPEARED, leaving only a patch of oil and some smoke. Everyone watching it was so surprised by the sudden disappearance of the motorbike, that we roared in laughter.

In the next shot, the motorbike was shown lodged in a tree. How did it get there, we'd never know. But the sheer randomness of this show just gave us so much surprises. It was great.

While waiting for the organisers to come out of the debrief just so we can spring Gerberras on 'em, the three of us walked around the musuem. There was this interesting exhibition, where spoons, safety helmets, bowls and even plungers stuck on the wall. These items could be taken out and placed anywhere on the wall because they had magnets on them. How cool is that?

Colleen said next time, she'd want her kitchenware to be placed like that on the wall. Once you're done washing the dishes, just stick them to the wall.

It's an interesting concept, but I'd definitely not eat anything with her cutlery lest I swallow a magnet and get stuck to the wall too.

(haha...)

And then there was feminised David, a large fiberglass version of Michaelangelo's David. Instead of being all white like the original, this David was covered with a layer of embroidery of leaves which was red. Reading the information provided the answer as to why his equipment was so small.

Well, I got a real fun learning experience at the National Museum of Singapore yesterday night. And a good treat of tauy huay and chin chow from the organisers too! Squeezed them dry. Haha. Gluttony is my deadly sin.

Yay! Gerberra!

Tun Fatimah

Perspectives Film Festival at the National Museum of Singapore happening this week. Took the time to catch the tuesday screening, which was a really old Malay flick called "Tun Fatimah".

I didn't fall asleep, even though I was half-expecting to. Which means it's much more interesting than Battleship Potemkin!

Half the time, I'd look around a little and wonder when I can show my films in the National Museum of Singapore.

Kudos to the WKWSCI-ians who organised this event. Can see that many blood and sweat have been poured over this module. The subtitling was really professional too! Great job guys!

For the rest of the people out there, check out www.ntu.edu.sg/sci/perspectives for details if you want to catch the old flicks of Singapore. Friday's screening will be an free outdoor one, and they're showing a comedy. A real meaningful event to catch up with our beloved country's past.

Chris Yaw is talking about copyrights now.

I can hear Felicia and Cathy discussing about their project in the background, Xi Jie's row whispering and the sound of keystrokes.

And i begin to think of all the rubbish ways in which i try to cite materials, and how lucky I am right now to be protected by the invisible walls of school.

Fizzah just peered over. Yaw is still talking. I'm just addicted to typing.

okay. Back to copyrights
